About this part of our organisation:
Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Globally we are part of a Zinc group with operations across Asia, both North and South American continents and Europe. Mount Isa is home to the majority of our assets in Australia and this role is based residentially in Mount Isa.
Mount Isa is one of the better facilitated mining towns around the country. With a local community of around 20,000 residents there are multiple choices of schools, supermarkets, and activities. From arts and culture to a thriving sporting community and more, it is the central hub for the surrounding area housing key government services for the region and hosting events such as the largest rodeo in the southern hemisphere.
About your potential new position:
Working across all our Australian Zinc assets you will be the subject matter expert and strategist for the category of procurement you oversee. Working closely with the team of internal and external partners it is your role to guide the business to the best path for the procurement lifecycle. Your role will be encompassing a broad range of activities including sourcing, risk management of supplier dependencies & dependability, market analysis, supplier relationship management, future business directions, technology changes and beyond.
Combining both strategic and tactical elements, some of your responsibilities will be.
Managing supplier relationships with an emphasis on long-term to ensure supply continuity, manage risks and drive innovation.
Robust supplier management & development and contract management.
Focus on risk management including monitoring market trends, geopolitical factors, supply disruptions, and regulatory changes that could impact availability & prices.
Understanding end user and overall business strategy to align procurement.
What we expect about you:
You are likely to hold a tertiary qualification in an engineering, commercial or technically related discipline or have many years of experience in this field.
Having worked in a mining or heavy industrial environment will be advantageous to grasping the end users requirements quickly
Experience in drafting and managing contracts.
