Our Program Management Office (PMO) has been established to lead the delivery of culturally safe and inclusive recommendations made by the Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce. This role will be responsible for the development of state-wide policies, procedures, and programs to support service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in the correctional system.
You will be focused on promoting women’s connection to children, family & culture through effective partnerships, service user consultation & identifying opportunities for QCS to build cultural awareness and capabilities as it relates to the management of women in the criminal justice system.

About the Command:
The Transformation Office, within the Office of the Commissioner, Queensland Corrective Services (QCS), is responsible for leading the planning and delivery of the QCS' portfolio and reform agenda and comprises of:

  • Portfolio Delivery
  • Strategic Transformation
  • Portfolio Change
  • Women's System Reform Program Management Office (PMO)
About the Role:
This role is pivotal to the PMO's delivery of gender-responsive, culturally safe and inclusive Women's System Reform. You will be asked to provide cultural advice and support to senior management and project leads as it relates to delivery of women's services including project planning, communication, change and engagement, and consultation with service users and external service providers.
You will review, assess, and provide advice regarding the design and development of culturally appropriate strategies and service responses for women in the correctional system, whilst maintaining effective partnerships, internally and externally to QCS.
Your role will contribute to the ongoing development of QCS cultural capability, representation, and reconciliation through examining, analysing, and making well-informed recommendations regarding culturally sustainable policy and practice that leverages similar community development, rehabilitation, correctional and/or healthcare models that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in contact with the criminal justice system.
You will contribute to QCS cultural maturity and safety by building effective partnerships with members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Reference Groups, Cultural Liaison Officer network, community, service users, and service sector.
How your suitability will align to this exciting opportunity and contribute to the Women's Safety and Justice Taskforce outcomes:
You will have experience in the delivery of projects that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and communities. You will have had exposure to project management methodologies, experience in community engagement and/or working with special interest groups (ideally within the criminal justice system) knowledge of risks, issues, trends, and opportunities to improve culturally safe service delivery for women in the criminal justice system, and particularly women impacted by domestic and family violence.
Your knowledge and experience of interpreting policy, procedure, and legislation relevant to people in contact with the criminal justice system context will be highly regarded and you will have a demonstrated resilience to remain motivated in the face of setbacks to achieving reform outcomes. You will have high-level research. analytical and problem-solving skills to meet project outcomes.
Qualifications in psychology, education, human services, social work, criminal justice or related discipline will be highly regarded. In addition, project management or certification in project methodologies will be advantageous.
