Principal Developer, temporary 2 years, location are flexible across NSW with hybrid working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Developer to join the Digital Land Tax team within Revenue NSW.
In this role, you will lead and guide developers and contribute to the creation of large and complex applications that will facilitate the success of major programs in Revenue NSW.
You will be a hands-on developer while supporting team members and ensuring that delivered solutions meet the business needs and adhere to coding, quality and design standards.
About the Project
Revenue NSW is transforming tax compliance with the innovative Better Revenue Outcomes program. We're investing in data matching and visualisation, improving how we detect non-compliance and enhancing digital communication - all to help our customers better understand their tax obligations. The program will deliver an additional $568m in revenue over 4 years.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Experience working with large-scale distributed systems, complex integrations and various technology stacks
- Experience in coaching and providing guidance and training to less experienced professionals.
- Promote and support agile / scrum development practices
- An ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills
Skills and experience required:
- Experience in Java 8+, Spring Boot, Spring Data/Hibernate, JBOSS- Targeted Java Backend
- Experience in REACT desirable.
- Strong understanding of microservice architecture, REST APIs
- Hands-on development experience in AWS
- Experience in SQL Queries, Oracle Queries
- Ability to write and tune SQL queries for Postgres and Oracle
- Experience in Gitlab

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $139,787 base plus superannuation
