A bit about the role

Engineering Development plays a lead role in the planning of new suburbs in the Greenfields area and the coordination and approval of civil infrastructure for the future community. As a senior member in a cohesive team, you will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of road, drainage and ancillary works as part of the subdivision construction process.  

As a dynamic, outcome-focused leader, you will mentor a team of engineers in developing Greenfields subdivisions in Council’s Growth areas, ensuring high-quality infrastructure and excellent customer service. Collaborate with the Coordinator Engineering Development to achieve Council’s strategic goals, uphold Wyndham Values, and contribute to long-term community success.

With a strong leadership background, you will manage a team of admin staff, working closely with them to improve existing processes. This role involves continuous improvement and implementing the new TechOne system for the Council. 

What you will deliver

  • Lead, Manage and mentor the Engineering Development Unit and be accountable for the its performance.
  • Manage and ensure the quality and coordination of the provision of Council’s future infrastructure and other civil infrastructure.
  • Review Development and Precinct Structure Plans and provide detailed engineering advice 
  • Oversee the review of Town Planning applications and set engineering conditions for the planning permit.
  • Manage and ensure that Functional Layout Plans, Detailed Engineering Plans, Public Lighting Plans,  Bulk earthwork and Sewer works plans are checked and comply with the planning conditions and Council standards.

What you will bring

  • Well-developed negotiation and communication skills and be able to liaise with external consultants and developers and all level of management internally.
  • Leadership skills with ability to lead, motivate and develop a multi-disciplined team including tertiary qualified employees and professional staff
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering with Professional Engineers Registration in compliance with the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019.
  •  A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
