Principal Ecologist - PerthOur ecology team is growing and ERM is recruiting for a Principal Ecologist to join our high performing national team. This is an excellent opportunity based in our Perth office, to lead ecological assessments to support large-scale capital development projects, including for mining, oil and gas, renewables, and infrastructure sector clients.As Senior/Principal Ecologist, you will contribute your leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support the delivery of projects for ERM’s business.We have a diverse client base, and your projects will encompass the full project life cycle, including impact assessments, BAM assessments, biodiversity stewardship site assessments, biodiversity certification assessments, EPBC referrals, and strategic advisory.As ERM is the leading provider of ecological services to the renewable energy sector, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams to deliver best practice across this rapidly evolving sector.Role Responsibilities:Delivering biodiversity values and constraints assessments, rehabilitation monitoring, biodiversity surveys, impact and offset assessments and ecological management plansConducting environmental analyses and mapping, research, and field surveysPreparation of Biodiversity Stewardship AgreementsProvision of advice on the relevant regulatory framework and project approval pathwayWriting technical environmental reports, proposals, and tendersPlanning and managing projects with a range of complexity and scaleUndertake technical reviewsBuilding relationships with clients while actively pursuing new business opportunitiesMentoring junior staff and assisting with their professional developmentIf you have the following, we want to hear from you:10+ years’ experience in biodiversity impact assessmentTertiary qualifications in botany, ecology or related disciplineExtensive experience in leading ecological inputs and directing teams of field surveyors on large-scale projectsExperience in the preparation of bushfire risk assessments would be beneficialExcellent experience in the WA ecological consultancy market, with a strong external-facing, client-orientated approachExcellent understanding of WA regional ecosystems and State/Commonwealth regulatory frameworks and policyDemonstrated experience in botanical survey and vegetation management, and experience in the application of the BAMExperience in undertaking environmental impact assessments for EIAsProven track record in winning workWillingness and/or experience in managing and training junior staffFull Australian Driving licenceWhat ERM can offer you in this position:ERM offers highly flexible working arrangements and believe in optimal work-life balanceEmployee Assistance Programs including mental and physical health wellness support, confidential access to a wellbeing coach and discounts with a range of retailersERM has an Employee Banking Solutions Program where you can take advantage of a range of preferential rates, banking discounts, fee waivers and moreOpportunity to join and work in local communities through the ERM foundationDiscretionary performance bonussesWellness days and purchased leave optionsContinuous training and developmentWho We Are:As the world’s leading sustainability consulting firm, ERM is uniquely positioned to contribute to the environment and society through the expertise and energy of our employees worldwide.
