Principal Event Streaming Architect – Confluent

Synapsewerx is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Event Streaming Architect with significant expertise in Confluent Platform and a solid foundation in hands-on Kafka or Amazon MSK and Flink technologies. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from working within globally recognised enterprise organisations, having led large-scale data streaming projects. This role is pivotal in guiding our clients through their intelligent transformation journeys, delivering exceptional Confluent solution architectures, and leading our Event Streaming delivery teams to new heights of innovation and success.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the solution design and implementation of robust data-led integration architectures using Confluent and Boomi, ensuring scalability, performance, and strong security.
• Engage with clients to understand their intelligent transformation challenges and provide strategic, tailored integration solutions.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in integration architecture, including data-led reference architectures and API Security
• Mentor and guide the integration team, fostering an environment of learning and personal growth.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data and integration technologies to continuously enhance our service offerings.

Experience

• A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in systems integrations, with a broad exposure to various integration technologies such as: Kafka, Flink, Boomi, MuleSoft, Tibco, WebMethods and Oracle.
• Professional experience using Confluent in Data Cloud architectures, using Lakehouse technologies, such as: Databricks or Snowflake. 
• At least 3-5 years of senior consulting and/or architectural experience with Confluent Kafka or Amazon MSK, having led successful streaming solutions for multiple enterprise clients.
• Demonstrated leadership and consulting expertise, with a strong ability to engage and advise clients on their integration and digital transformation initiatives.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a track record of tackling complex integration challenges.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively within a diverse team and with clients across various industries.
• A passion for continuous learning and professional development, aligned with Synapsewerx's values of innovation and community.

• Essential
  • Advanced Kafka experience preferably gained in a Confluent or Amazon MSK environment
  • Extensive experience designing and building solutions using distributed technologies and data frameworks with Kafka, Flink, Spark and Hadoop
  • Advanced practical integration development expertise in a range of integration technologies including Kafka, Microservices, Boomi, MuleSoft, Tibco, WebMethods, etc.
  • Strong Enterprise architecture
  • Java Virtual Machine (JVM) tuning and troubleshooting
  • Experience with operating Linux, ability to configure, tune and troubleshoot both RedHat & Debian based distributions
  • Advanced DevOps CI/CD 
  • Advanced integration / API Security
  • Waterfall and Agile delivery experience
  • Jenkins / GitHub / Splunk / BitBucket / Maven etc
  • Rest / SOAP Web Services
  • Docker / Kubernetes
  • Actively using AI tooling to accelerate development and configuration

• Desirable
  • Hyperscale platform expertise in any of the following: Azure, AWS, GCP, Oracle
  • Integration or steaming to any of the following applications: SAP, S/4HANA, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Workday, Maximo, NetSuite, Oracle Fusion Cloud, MS Dynamics, PeopleSoft, SuccessFactors 
  • Bachelor of Science / Computing degree
  • MQ / Apache ActiveMQ
  • Java / J2EE / Python / SQL / .net etc languages
  • Server-side scripting (Shell / Bash)
  • Strong interest in Lakehouse architectures
