The Opportunity at Altana (via Safeguard)
The SRE team is looking for experienced Software Engineers to help build out our vision. You'll work closely with our Data Scientists on projects to analyze and observe world-scale datasets, write code that can scale to produce never-before-seen insights, and construct infrastructure and applications that help deliver our product vision.
Your Responsibilities
- Use IAC tooling to design, build, and operate multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc)
- Support deployments in highly regulated customer environments
- Write and manage helm charts for complicated Kubernetes deployments
- Enable monitoring and observability tooling across our team's entire stack
- Increase the automation and testing coverage
- Mentor and train teammates and other engineers, raising their levels/capabilities as a result
- Collaborate with fellow engineers, data scientists, and others across the organization
- Maintain a professional demeanor and foster strong relationships with customers and colleagues
About You
- 8+ years of real-world experience building developer tools or infrastructure automation
- Production experience building and operating environments in multiple CSPs
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent experience
- Track record of ownership and delivery of projects with major organizational impact
- Care deeply about engineering excellence, security, clean code, and collaboration
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
This role will be supporting Australian government customers and requires clearance for access to classified data or systems. Applicants must currently hold security clearance for access to classified information.

- Experience with Python Machine Learning toolsets (Scikit-learn, Numpy, Pandas, etc)
- Experience with API development
- Experience with CI/CD tooling
- Security Experience/familiarity with CIS, CCM, SOC2, ISO27001, Essential 8

This role is based in our Canberra office in a hybrid work model. You can expect to be onsite up to 3 days per week. You are expected to be available to hand off responsibilities to our UK team during UK hours and receive a handoff from our US team during US hours.
