About the Role
Reporting to the Lead Procurement for Technology, the Principal conducts complex sourcing activities and provides technical expertise in the development of cross-cutting multi-year strategies and partnerships.
The Procurement Technology team is part of the Global Mining and Services team and looks after key contracts for software, industrial automation, network links and site connectivity. The role is either based in Perth or Brisbane.
Accountabilities with the biggest impact:
Builds and manages strategic supplier relationships that target realisation of value over and above contract value through innovation, risk sharing, R&D and active commercial partnerships
Develops value chain strategies and identify, structure and prioritise opportunities and make educated risk tradeoffs across categories and regions over medium term time horizon that are then executed in the sourcing cycle.
Frames, evaluates and communicates the risk-reward proposition of strategies, plans and decisions; improves investment methodologies, processes, capabilities and culture to enhance investment decision quality, to maximise the long-term value of BHP.
Mitigates people, community, human rights and modern slavery, environmental and climate risks across the value chain, in alignment with public policy and our sustainability and climate commitments.
Gains support for and negotiates outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals.
Monitors application of Procurement category management processes within the team to support compliance and other requirements
Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation.
Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste.
Knows our customer and is obsessed with meeting their needs.
About You
Prior experience in procurement, sales, supply chain, legal or related commercial discipline is highly regarded
Previous experience in leading teams is desirable but not essential
Previously demonstrated ability to collaborate and deliver customer focused outcomes is essential.
Ability to analyze complex business processes risk factors and control systems
Experience with ERP systems
