About the role

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Water Resources Engineer to provide technical leadership and innovation within the areas of Water for Food, and Water for the Environment. Reporting to the Water Resources Section Leader for Central, West and Northern Australia, this role will see you working on local, national and international water resources projects.

As a leader within Jacobs, you will have the opportunity to grow and shape the future of our water resources business, supported by a strong established ANZ practice. Key to success in this role will be a proven technical background in water resources, an ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams, and a passion for sustainable, integrated water resources development.

Ideally the role will be located in Brisbane or Adelaide, but with Jacobs flexible remote work practices it could be based almost anywhere in Australia.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • You will have a relevant engineering degree (or equivalent) and RPEQ Accreditation.
  • You will have strong technical knowledge and proven experience in water resources management and development.
  • You will have extensive knowledge of relevant Queensland and Australian legislation, standards and guidelines.
  • You will be an excellent multidisciplinary integrator with a broad understanding of all the relevant disciplines that work together to plan, design and manage water resources projects.
  • You will have specialist knowledge in at least one of the following areas: yield hydrology, flood hydrology, demand assessment, eco-hydraulics, hydraulic engineering (flow regulators, spillway hydraulics, water storage, fish passage, etc), or irrigation.
  • You will have strong market knowledge, client relationships, and demonstrated ability to find, bid, win, and deliver water resources projects.
  • Successful candidates will have an inclusive mindset, enjoy collaborating across geographies as part of diverse teams, as well as the ability and willingness to guide and mentor team members. You should be open-minded and willing to adapt with change and transformation.
  • Most importantly, you will demonstrate a passion for sustainable and innovative water resources management and development.
