An exciting opportunity awaits at UniSC for a Privacy and Data Governance Specialist, where your expertise will play a key role in shaping the future of data management. In this pivotal role, we are seeking a skilled professional to lead the implementation of a comprehensive privacy management improvement plan. This role involves conceptualising, developing, and delivering specialised technical, regulatory, and operational solutions across various facets of Privacy and Data Governance. You will

  • take the lead in developing and implementing practical Privacy and Data Governance frameworks, policies, and practices to elevate our standards across the board;
  • head up the implementation of a privacy management improvement plan, boosting our organisational capabilities and ensuring we maintain Privacy and Data protection regulations;
  • oversee the creation of a streamlined Data Governance platform, automating processes for real-time management, cataloging, and security; and
  • engage in collaborative consultations and detailed analyses to seamlessly embed Privacy and Data Governance into all aspects of university operations.

About you:

To excel in this role, you will be an accomplished professional, who thrives on providing specialist guidance, and leading collaborative, cross-functional teams to achieve comprehensive program goals. You will be a master of managing external partnerships, while bringing a blend of technical expertise and innovation to design and implement an automated Data Governance platform. Our ideal candidate is not just a specialist but a strategic thinker who excels in research, stays ahead of privacy legislation trends, and contributes to a positive, culturally capable, and ethical work environment.

To be successful you will possess

  • completion of a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, such as Law, Commerce or Information Security and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of specialist experience and/or education/training within a Privacy and Data Governance domain, ideally in a large and complex organisation;
  • extensive knowledge of Privacy and information security legislation, obligations, and their practical application in a multinational environment;
  • demonstrated experience in the design and development of high-quality foundational documentation, frameworks, policies, processes which underpin privacy, Data Governance and information management;
  • proven success in the development and implementation of a comprehensive and formalised organisational transformation program which embeds and uplifts operational, human, and technological capabilities; and
  • well-developed understanding of contemporary privacy, data and cloud-based information architecture, storage, security, Data Governance and management, in alignment with recognised methodologies.
