Join QBE, a leading global insurer, as a Privacy Lead specializing in Privacy Act Reforms and projects. In this pivotal role reporting to the Head Of Privacy Compliance (AUSPAC), you will drive QBE's compliance with upcoming privacy reforms, guiding the organization through regulatory changes and their operational impacts. As the subject matter expert, you will assess current processes, identify gaps, and lead initiatives to ensure QBE's privacy program aligns with regulatory requirements. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and implement robust privacy strategies within a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand privacy law and privacy risks thoroughly, applying this knowledge to navigate and assess business operations.
  • Exhibit strong curiosity and proactive inquiry, consistently seeking clarity and distilling complex information to identify gaps in compliance and processes.
  • Lead projects activities independently with minimal supervision, actively participating in and contributing to all relevant committees and project stages.
  • Conduct thorough pre-project impact assessments, identifying gaps between current practices and upcoming privacy reforms.
  • Take ownership of activities from inception to completion, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all privacy-related aspects.
  • Demonstrate excellent presentation skills, ability to structure large volumes of content and present it in a digestible form.
  • Effectively communicating privacy reforms, obligations, and the compliance status to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with various business units to understand processes, impacts and propose and implement solutions that bridge identified gaps.
  • Lead and facilitate business activities related to privacy reforms, ensuring end-to-end management and successful outcomes.
About you

QBE is seeking a candidate who brings expertise in managing privacy projects within large organizations like ours, particularly in sectors such as banking. While deep legal expertise is not required, candidates should possess a strong grasp of privacy risks and a keen ability to integrate privacy strategies with business operations. The ideal candidate will be extroverted, adept at navigating difficult conversations, and skilled at distilling complex concepts into clear, actionable insights. They must be self-motivated, autonomous, and possess a curious mindset, unafraid to ask probing questions. This role demands a proactive individual who can effectively bridge regulatory requirements with practical business needs, driving compliance and operational efficiency in a dynamic corporate environment.
