The Opportunity
In this role you’ll lead the development and implementation of the University’s regional education plan, aiming to expand participation and success in regional education, with a strategic emphasis on professional programs. Overseeing Inveresk and Newnham campuses in Launceston, you’ll collaborate with the Campus Futures team to align campus development with academic strategy to enhance student experience. Additionally, you’ll establish and lead the Launceston Institute, leveraging the City Deal's investments to position Northern Tasmania as an innovation hub, connecting university research with local industry for regional sustainability.
As a seasoned university leader, you’ll foster connections across campuses, model collegiality, and collaborate within the academic community. Moreover, you’ll forge partnerships with industry and government to address regional skills gaps and expand course opportunities, demonstrating a profound commitment to the University’s mission.
Key responsibilities:
Cultivate a thriving staff community in Launceston and across campuses, fostering engagement and inclusion.
Promote campus initiatives to increase social inclusion and enhance student wellbeing at Inveresk and Newnham.
Develop regional data, evidence and technical expertise to support Academic Division initiatives.
Communicate campus developments and set targets with the senior leadership team in pursuit of meeting future academic needs.
About the University

We strive to stimulate economic growth, lift literacy, improve health outcomes for Tasmania and nurture our environment as it nurtures us. We welcome enquiring minds, from near and far, to join us in our pursuit of the extraordinary.
What’s Required
You will hold a Doctoral level qualification relevant to the University's offerings and showcase a proven history of effective leadership within academia. You’ve demonstrated the ability to engage and advocate for academic units while interpreting and translating higher education trends into a compelling campus vision.
Additionally, you’ll excel in developing enduring academic strategies, engaging diverse stakeholders, and strategically navigating both long-term objectives and current challenges. As the successful candidate you’ll have exceptional communication skills and have experience collaborating in a range of collegial settings, including individual and group consultation, and making effective contributions to formal committees.
Overall, you’ll exhibit professional agility, strategic acumen, and a deep understanding of academic culture, with the capacity to achieve sustainable growth and excellence within the regional university community.
What’s on Offer?
You’ll have access to staff benefits and discounts for health, fitness, accommodation, and banking to name a few. You’ll have the opportunity to significantly expand regional educational participation and student success across the North of Tasmania and in doing so deliver a sustainable education future for our region. On offer are salary packaging options, 17% superannuation and relocation assistance for those considering a move to Launceston.
