THE ROLE

Reporting to the Superintendent Quality & Gypsum, you will be responsible for providing technical and operational support to the Quality & Production teams at our Lake MacLeod operation in Carnarvon. You will collaborate with site leadership teams to ensure Salt & Gypsum quality and integrity is maintained and the operations of salt growth, harvest and processing withing gypsum mining & processing are in accordance with the design intent and operational plan.

This role is a great opportunity to contribute to the successful stewardship of a significant solar salt & gypsum mining operation. You will work across a large business whilst extending your professional development and experience.

The responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Operate and manage the site and wash plant laboratory including maintenance and troubleshooting of technical equipment, and reagent preparation.
  • Provide comprehensive analysis of shipping salt & Gypsum samples and issue of DSL Certificate of Analysis. This shall include ensuring the process adheres to the Japanese industry standard (JIS 2010)
  • Ensure all laboratory data has been recorded correctly.
  • Monitor daily analysis of brine, salt and gypsum samples and alert Operations and Process Superintendents of quality issues.
  • Provide product quality response training to operators in the laboratory, wash plant and field teams.
  • Provide technical expertise and process improvement support.
  • Contribute to the achievement of health, safety and environmental goals.
  • Maintain quality assurance of laboratory procedures and technical equipment using ISO9001

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

  • Bachelor of science, applied in analytical chemistry or similar.
  • Previous professional experience with proficiency in wet chemistry techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain atomic absorption spectrometry and metrohm auto-titrators.
  • Strong computer literacy and database management skills.
  • Stakeholder engagement and management skills.
  • Experience in risk assessment and risk management principles.
  • Excellent communication skill.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring a laboratory team.

It will also be beneficial if you have

  • Previous mining industry experience
  • Previous Salt & Gypsum processing experience
  • Experience in product/commodity certification.
