About the Group you’ll be joining

The Teams & Education supergroup is on a mission to make Canva the tool that every team big and small wants to use to collaborate and communicate in every day.

Within the Teams & Education supergroup is the Design Productivity group and their mission is to power up design workflows to help everyone from kindergarten to the workplace grow and scale. This means empowering teams, workplaces, and classrooms to use Canva in new and exciting ways to achieve their goals - whether that’s creating a brand from scratch, launching their first website, scheduling content to social media, or generating hundreds of high-quality designs in a just a couple of clicks.

So far we’ve launched a range of capabilities to scale design needs but this is just the beginning of our journey. As the Product Design Group Lead joining the Design Productivity group, you'll help us drive towards making Canva a household name!

How You'll Make An Impact

  • Coaching and Leadership. You'll coach and build relationships with your design team, supporting and growing their capabilities through honest feedback and guidance.
  • Develop Canva’s design productivity experiences. You'll lead the design direction and UX strategy for how Canva can boost productivity through powerful data and insights and help teams of all kinds to stay on brand with brand kits and brand templates.
  • Vision and Strategy. You'll clearly define the design vision, strategy and roadmap to your design team and senior stakeholders, creating clarity through your communication by making complex things simple.
  • Scale the Product Design team. You'll plan for future design resourcing needs with the Teams and Education Supergroup Lead and Head of Design.
  • Collaborate. Work closely with Product Managers and Engineering Leads to make sure you’re prioritising the most important features/experiences.
  • Shape and establish design processes. You'll enable greater impact and efficiency across the team by driving design best practice.
  • Ensure a high bar for design. Guide your designers always design to our high standards of simplicity and usability.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience coaching Product Designers. You've led a small team of Product Designers and you're passionate about the development and growth of others, empowering them to achieve crazy big goals.
  • End-to-end product design experience. You've designed and shipped multiple complex products or features across various platforms. Ideally, you have experience designing collaboration software for teams.
  • Effective Communication Skills. You can confidently communicate future design direction with senior stakeholders, including founders, and inspire positive action within your team in order to bring the vision to life.
  • User Centricity. You have a deep understanding of how to uncover user needs through research and user empathy.
  • Passion for design team culture. Experience fostering an inclusive, open, and engaged culture.
  • Engineering Literacy. You have experience working with Engineers on feasibility, detailed design and finding solutions to complex problems.
  • Flexibility. Our growth means there are constantly new things to work on every day, so it’s likely that you’ll often be working across the board on new and innovative projects.
