About the position
An opportunity has arisen for a distinguished academic to join the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine in the Biomedical Science discipline and provides an ideal opportunity for an individual with capacity to provide leadership and promote a culture of excellence in biomedical and health sciences teaching and research.
Situated within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, the Biomedical Sciences discipline is responsible for the Bachelor of Biomedical Science, Bachelor of Health Sciences and associated Honours programs and contributes to teaching within the Bachelor of Medical Studies (the pre-clinical phase of the Bond Medical Program). The Quality Indicators of Learning and Teaching (QILT) rankings currently list the Biomedical Sciences discipline as number 1 in Australia for overall student satisfaction.
The faculty offers a broad range of research opportunities within biomedical and health sciences. Research within the faculty is multidisciplinary with potential for collaborations with Faculty Research Centres including Clem Jones Centre for Regenerative Medicine, Centre for Urology Research and numerous research groups.
About the personThe Discipline invites applications from distinguished academics with research and teaching experience in genetics and molecular diagnostics.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- a PhD or equivalent qualification.
- an outstanding internationally recognised track record, with evidence of effective teaching, scholarship and research in genetics and academic administration relevant to biomedical and health sciences disciplines.
- excellent leadership skills including the ability to mentor and support staff at all levels along with significant experience in building effective working relationships will be required for success in this role.
- area(s) of research expertise that will synergise with current faculty research interests within the Biomedical and Health Sciences field in order to maximise potential for collaborative research.
The salary for the position commences at $207,985 per annum plus 17.5% superannuation and will be negotiated commensurate on skills and experience. Salary packaging options are available for eligible employees.
