About the Opportunity

Based in Henderson, WA you will be reporting the General Manager – Program Management Office (PMO) - Multi Class Sustainment (MCS). The position is accountable to provide a centralised quality function across the MCS programs (CCSM, LOTE and SSN-Sustainment) to enable ASC to provide defect-free products and services to the customer and assuring the company’s compliance and ongoing certification pertaining to Quality legislation, including ISO9001, ISO17025 and NATA/ARPANSA licensing through a comprehensive Quality Management System and suite of processes.

The MCS Quality department manages all elements of Quality Control through the MCS Programs and related external stakeholder relationships including NATA and ARPANSA in support of MCS programs and business legislation and licensing. This department is the centralised interface through to the ASC Nuclear and Capability Program for all MCS Quality Assurance and Quality Control matters. They provide assurance that the MCS Programs are compliant to the Nuclear and Capability Program QA framework, policy and practice and is the centralised interface between MCS QA and CNCO QA requirements. Additionally, you will contribute through aligning activities with ASC’s Strategy and assisting ASC to meet any relevant contractual deliverables. Working with the MCS leadership team, the position is required to maintain a strategic perspective of the entire business and will take into account a wide range of longer-term issues, opportunities and risks to ensure ongoing business success.

You will lead approximately 4 direct reports across areas including MCS Quality Assurance, MCS Quality Control, MCS NDT requirements and MCS Supplier Quality requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain technical competence to deliver future sustainment needs (e.g. engineering, planning).
  • Maintain MCS Quality compliance.
  • Support decision making utilising digital and analytics.
  • Execute on ASC safety and security requirements (e.g. safety standards)
  • Deliver safe, accurate and efficient Quality products and services to ASC MCS and the wider Submarine Enterprise.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements in support of NATA/ ARPANSA licencing, WHS and ASC’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity policy.


About You 

  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering and/or business discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in operational leadership within Defence and/or heavy industry.
  • Proven experience and competency with quality/certification systems in a dockyard or heavy engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in the management and leadership of across-functional team across multiple projects and locations.
  • Have high level conceptual, analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret (both ASC and customer) social, political and operating environments.
  • Knowledge of submarine systems, equipment and their interrelationship (desirable)
  • Experience with CCSM maintenance requirements and quality regulations including ISO17025.


Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
