About the role:
We are seeking a dynamic, proactive and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our Corporate, Strategy and Performance team. Reporting to the Management Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our various projects, ensuring accurate accounting practices, driving improvement in end-to-end project processes and activities, analysing financial data and providing insightful recommendations to management. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) and the Project Support teams.
The key objectives of this position are to provide efficient project accounting support by managing the following key activities:
- End to end financial performance management of projects.
- Partnering approach with Project Managers, the EPMO and Project Support teams.
- Provision of hands on financial support to projects with a focus on performance improvement and understanding of data drivers
- Efficient delivery of project accounting processes and improvement of accounting systems and tools.
- Input, reconciliation and production of project budgets, forecasting, monthly financial transactions, and monthly reporting packs.
- Taking a proactive and advocating role in enterprise based improvement and change, setting the tone for a positive working culture.
- Meeting key accounting period timeframes for reporting.
About you:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting and/or Commerce.
- Membership of, or working towards membership of, an appropriate professional organisation (CPA/CA qualified).
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills are essential.
- Demonstrated time management skills to plan and deliver reporting requirements within timelines and to agreed objectives.
- Experience in financial analysis and reporting, business planning, developing costing, formulating and monitoring budgets, forecasting and accounting processes.
- A strong attention to detail.
- The ability to interrogate data and provide relevant financial reports to business managers.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills including the ability to effectively communicate at all levels both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated attributes of drive, reliability and flexibility with the ability to identify and manage strategic issues.
