About the Role
Our onsite Development and Planning team have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Project Engineer to join the team.
You will be working onsite at the Lihir Gold mine operation in PNG based on 22 days on 20 days off roster. This role will be based on a 2-year Fixed Term-Full Time role.
You will be responsible for providing engineering expertise, construction knowledge and commissioning input to the Site Execution team.
Your key accountabilities include:
- Monitor commissioning results against technical specifications.
- Provide the Engineering Budget, Schedule Estimates and oversee the technical resources to meet requirements on large projects.
- Understand geotechnical design of mine and provide guidance and ground control.
- Assist in obtaining application data and information to adequately formulate proposals and generate requisite calculations.
- Evaluate all available design information, calculations and test results to ensure proposed components meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Supervise site personnel.
- Sign-off on approval of daily work activities.
- Review and approval of construction work packages.
- Manage storage of materials on site.
- Arrange logistics and warehousing for the delivery of goods.
- Coordinate with contract management the delivery of long lead items and other goods delivered to site.
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience working in a similar role in mining and across all the mining lifecycles.
- Previous experience working in Construction, Commissioning and Engineering within the EPCM environment.
- Proven track record for the delivery of project objectives and established targets.
- Tertiary qualification in an Engineering discipline.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- A commitment to safety and environmental standards.
Desirable criteria
- Prior experience leading, coaching and mentoring a team in a diverse cultural environment.
- Previous experience working in a remote location in a developing country.
- Qualifications in Project Management or related discipline.

- Must be open to FIFO in PNG
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment
- Must be able to complete a National Police Check
