With at least 5 years in the coal industry, you are now looking for your next step, a new challenge, and the opportunity to further develop your skills on a challenging project with a supportive employer. You are looking for a project that you can join during the early stages and see through to operation and completion.
Your previous experience on open cut coal projects will put you in a good position to offer well-grounded practical advice based on experience. Your role will be to assist the Project Manager in planning, directing and coordinating the development of new mine, designs, scheduling activities, processes and associated aspects of the open pit mine. Your responsibilities include leading the research and development stage of projects, creating detailed project plans, and proposing budgets, staffing and equipment needs. As the project moves into construction you will be an essential part of the owners’ team overseeing the work of the contractors.
The role will be initially based in Brisbane offices but as the project develops time will be required on site in Central Queensland. Approvals permitting construction is due to start in 2026.
The company developing the project already owns a number of assets, including a power station and is well funded.
Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in open cut thermal coal projects desirable.
- 2 + years’ experience on an operating mine site in technical services or operations departments.
- 5+ years post university experience.
- Experience as part of a project team.
- Experience on an open cut coal project.
- Experience with Modern Mine design and Mine scheduling software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Project, and Word. (Access or other data base programs beneficial)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2008 required (experience with Promine a plus)
