Roster:  Monday to Friday We are currently seeking a highly motivated geologist to join our Environmental Geology team as a Project Environmental Geologist. The position is based in Perth and offers a flexible workplace arrangement on a 5:2 roster with site travel as needed. Reporting to the Principal Environmental Geoscientist, the focus of the roles is to ensure that effective mineral waste management is implemented across Fortescue projects and operations. Key Responsibilities Reviews and interprets all available geological information (logging codes, assay results, mapping) and assess for potential to generate acid and or metalliferous drainage (AMD) and reactive ground. Manages geochemical sampling programmes in support of environmental approvals and closure Prepares with support of Senior or Principal Geoscientist advice on elements/analytes requiring monitoring in water and tailings Manages waste sampling programmes for its suitability as an alternative growth media Physical characterisation to help guide closure landform design including cover systems Ongoing characterisation and interpretation of geochemical information during operations Investigates deviations in model performance of AMD and reactive ground Reviews pits for flagging of AMD/RG Supports in the preparation of reports to support studies, approvals, mine closure and other regulatory requirements Train and educate others on aspects of AMD, geological presentation, and monitoring Liaises with stakeholders across the business with regards to geochemical risk Qualifications and Experience Degree in geology, environmental engineering or environmental science related subject or relevant experience in a similar role.
