Roster: Monday to Friday
The Reporting Project Geologist will assist the Approvals and Reporting Team with the compilation and submission of tenement reports, including annual and surrender reports, for all tenure amongst Fortescue's exploration and operations. They will assist in the rehabilitation reporting, liaising with the various field and geological teams to ensure timely and accurate submission of data, and participate in site audits to check environmental and tenement condition compliance. The Reporting Project Geologist will have sound knowledge of GIS to create geological maps and integrate spatial data. The role requires use of a database to assist in exploration drill programmes and tenement and rehabilitation reporting.
The role will regularly engage with DMIRS to ensure compliance obligations relating to reporting are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Compiling and submitting mineral exploration reporting (annual, partial surrender and final surrender reports)
- Assisting in the rehabilitation reporting process, including applying for rehabilitation extensions
- Supporting the tenement condition compliance process
- Updating and managing team procedures as required
- Assisting in database imports and exports
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting the annual compilation of Sunset Clause objections
- Leading site audits for environmental and tenement condition compliance
- Maintaining an accurate Reporting Register and ensuring all obligations are met
- Mentoring other members of the Reporting team and providing support where required
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- A Geology degree or equivalent qualification
- Proficiency in the tenement reporting process and understanding of WA legislative requirements
- Familiarity with WA Statutory Requirements
- Knowledge of databases and data storage systems (acQuire, Microsoft Excel)
- Intermediate-level GIS skills (ArcGIS)
- Preferred experience in auditing and compliance
- Excellent written communication skills
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy
