Your next exciting job opportunity:

We are seeking expressions highly skilled and motivated Project Managers in Canberra; your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage projects within the Defence maritime sector. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects, adhering to strict deadlines, budget constraints, and quality standards.

In this role you will be able to:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation. Identify critical milestones and dependencies and establish a clear project roadmap.
  • Effectively engage and manage stakeholders at all levels, including defence authorities, naval personnel, contractors, and suppliers. Maintain strong relationships and ensure effective communication channels are established and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Proactively monitor risks throughout the project and implement appropriate contingency plans to minimize their impact on project outcomes.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring optimal utilization of resources while maintaining cost control. Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely acquisition of necessary equipment and materials.
  • Monitor project progress, track milestones, and adjust schedules as required. Anticipate potential delays or obstacles and implement corrective actions to keep the project on track.
  • Establish quality standards and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and specifications. Implement quality control measures, conduct regular inspections, and address any non-conformities promptly.
  • Prepare and deliver regular project status reports, progress updates, and presentations to key stakeholders. Maintain accurate project documentation, including meeting minutes, change requests, and other project-related records.
  • Provide effective leadership to project teams, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment. Delegate tasks, monitor performance, and provide guidance and support as needed.

Relevant Education, Experience, and Skills:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in project management, specifically within the defence maritime sector
  • In-depth knowledge of defence maritime systems, equipment, and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of defence procurement processes and regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate through changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
  • Experience with defence maritime systems integration and interoperability.
  • Familiarity with naval vessel construction, maintenance, or modernisation.
  • AGSVA Security Clearance - NV1 and above
