Position Overview: As a Propagation Team Member, you will play a crucial role in the propagation and maintenance of tree stock within our organization. You will be responsible for executing various tasks related to seeding, vegetative propagation, and ensuring the health and vitality of our tree stock through maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to work.
Responsibilities:
• Perform seeding and vegetative propagation activities according to established protocols.
• Transplant into tubes or containers following established standards for spacing and root development.
• Utilize various staking and pruning techniques, including thinning and formative pruning, to shape trees and encourage desired growth patterns.
• Assist with integrated pest management program including the safe handling of chemicals, pre-emergent herbicides, mulch and manual weeding.
• Collaborate with Team Members to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.
• Keep accurate records of propagation activities and inventory levels.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in propagation techniques.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in horticulture or related field.
- Knowledge of plant propagation techniques and practices.
- Chemical handling and application certification (Auschem or Chemcert) or ability to obtain
- In-depth knowledge of advanced plant care techniques, pruning methodologies, and horticultural best practices.
- The role requires flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities and seasonal demands.
- Ability to complete repetitive tasks with a positive outlook.
- Ability to complete work that may be physically demanding.
- Ability to work outdoors in challenging weather conditions.
- Familiarity with the safe handling and application of chemicals in horticulture.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
