Job description

Mercy Connect supports people in need to live fulfilled lives. We provide a range of services to support adults, children and older people with a disability to live independently and get actively involved in their community. Mercy Connect is a not-for-profit Catholic organisation delivering a range of programs registered under the NDIS. Our programs support people with disability to build skills and capability to ensure they can participate in leading a meaningful life.


We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Property & Welfare Officer to join award winning Mercy Connect Limited. As a recipient of the Telstra Best of Business State Award- winning the Championing Health/Embracing Innovation we have new and exciting services and programs to offer people with disability.

We are looking for someone who has strong interest in working with people with disability, including children and young adults.

The Role:

  • The Property and Welfare/Caretaker is responsible for assisting residents to live cohesively and as independently as possible.  The Caretaker role will also assist residents to interact and live a fulfilled life.
  • Facilitate meaningful interactions between residents and foster a community of inclusion by encouraging social activities that reflect the interests of those who live there.
  • Optimise opportunities for residents to develop their independence by implementing formal processes which complement informal support provided by family, friends and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceed the expectations of residents by professionally managing the property by ensuring that it is appropriately maintained and a safe place to live.

  • Proven ability to apply person centred active support
  • Excellent communication skills including oral and written
  • Solution focused and strong problem-solving skills.
  • High level computer literacy.
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Adaptability to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to meet and apply quality and risk management standards
  • Ability to work with family, committee members and support team
  • Diploma level qualification (or willing to attain) and/or relevant experience
  • Social Services sector experience preferred
