About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Prosecutor to join NHVR’s QLD Prosecutions unit. In this busy and varied role, you will manage, prepare and conduct complex prosecutions on behalf of the NHVR. Reporting to the Senior Prosecutor, the position will cover the northern region within QLD. You will attend regional courts on a regular basis with occasional overnight stays. Given the nature of the role, after-hours work may be required.

We encourage work-life balance, and you will have the opportunity to accrue a rostered day off every four weeks. This is a permanent position based in Brisbane, however applications for Toowoomba, Gold Coast or Townsville are welcomed.
About You
As the ideal candidate you will have three years’ experience as a legal practitioner and ideally a minimum of 2 years in the field of prosecution. This experience will include all facets of trial preparations, working with court procedures, summary procedures and relevant legislation.
Crucial to your success is the ability to undertake extensive and complex case management and thrive with the challenge of working to deadlines. Strong organisational and prioritisation skills are required to plan and coordinate high volumes of work.
With high level interpersonal and communication skills you will be able to deliver a high standard of customer service for both internal and external stakeholders.
About Us
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistences across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.
We are headquartered in Brisbane and employ more than 750 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.
