Your Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Workshop Prototype Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, assembling, and machining prototypes using a variety of tools, techniques, equipment and machines. You will play a key role in our Research and Development (R&D) department, supporting the team with prototypes and models for cooking appliances.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing 2D Drawings & prototype sheet metal parts
- Following work instructions, procedures and product specifications
- Complete welding tasks - TIG (Light gauge sheet metal), Aluminium welding, spot welding
- Fabrication of Wood or Metal Jigs
- All new product development cost saving and quality projects, prototyping and reworking of components
- Organize Workshop to maximise space utilization
- Communicate effectively with supervisor and stakeholders to meet business needs
About You
To be successful you will be able to work autonomously under minimal supervision and display the following attributes:

- The ability to be pro-active and work with flexibility and efficiently.
- Have excellent problem-solving skills for complex manufacturing systems
- Be able to manage conflicting / changing priorities
- A can-do attitude and able to contribute to a positive team environment

- Willing to suggest improvements/modifications for persistent issues
Australian working rights is a must have requirement
Skills and Knowledge
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a related model workshop or manufacturing environment
- Create prototypes, rework on plastics, EPS, packaging material, sheet metal intricate forming, bending and punching
- Welding experience – TIG (Light gauge sheet metal), spot welding
- Machining Skills – Lathe, Milling Machine. Previous experience as a machinist ideal
- Sheet metal trade certified
- Fabrication experience (wood / metal jigs)
- Read and interpret 2D drawings
- Hold Forklift License (desirable, not essential)
