About the Role

The Psychology subject is an elective component of the program that aims to introduce students to a broad range of psychological theories and principles that attempt to explain human behaviour, as well as the diversity of human experience in different situations and environments.

Reporting to the Subject Leader of Psychology, the Psychology Lecturer and/or Tutor position will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of a set curriculum, lectures and tutorials focusing on topics such as scientific theory and critical thinking, biology of the mind, child development, adolescence and adulthood, learning, intelligence, personality, social psychology, psychological disorders, therapy and stress and health. 

In addition to the above, this role is also responsible for the preparation and administration of assessment, including the marking of student essays, presentations and exams, and writing student reports.

  • The Psychology Tutor/Lecturer position is a fixed term, 12 month position commencing 11 June 2024
  • 0.3 Fraction and is always subject to student enrolment
  • Foundation Studies 2024 Tutorials are currently scheduled on the below days and cannot be changed:
        - Tuesday 9 and 11 am and Wednesday 4.00pm
        - Each tutorial is 1.5 hours duration

Please note, this position involves face to face teaching (no option for online teaching).

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have an APAC accredited tertiary qualification in Psychology and considerable experience in lecturing and/or teaching in Psychology at Foundation Studies, VCE or University level. Having lecturing experience is desirable. PhD candidates are encouraged to apply.

Salary Range: Level B3 – C1 FTE $86,791 – $95,212 (dependent on qualifications and experience) plus 11% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading.
