Job description

Pub Manager

The iconic family-owned and operated regional hotel affectionately known as “The Riv”, in Holbrook is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pub Manager to take this gem to the next level. The Riv is renowned by locals for its excellent customer service, scrumptious food, and relaxing ambiance with a strong focus on community and quality regional produce. 

The ideal candidate loves being customer facing, offers a hands-on approach to leadership, strong compliance knowledge in line with gaming industry standards, excellent training and coaching abilities, and the capability to run the venue autonomously. 

Competitive Package on offer including $80k salary + super, “live in” arrangement with comfortable private accommodation with outgoings covered, 2 meals a day and bonus incentives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the pub, including the bar, bistro, gaming, and accommodation facilities. 
  • Train and mentor staff to provide exceptional service and maintain high standards.  
  • Ensure strict adherence to gaming industry regulations and compliance standards. 
  • Customer Service, foster a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring patrons have an enjoyable and memorable experience. 
  • Financial Management, monitor budgets, control costs and maximize revenue generation opportunities.  
  • Inventory control and management
  • Collaborate with the Kitchen Team on the menu design, costings and kitchen budget. 
  • Serving customers, whether that be behind the bar, in the bistro and or checking in accommodation guests. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role or 5+ industry experience. 
  • Cellar Management experience
  • Ability to use and program POS and accommodation booking systems.  
  • Complete understanding of regulatory compliance across food, beverage, and licensing. 
  • Proficient in Deputy and or similar rostering systems to conduct wage costings/rostering management 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong leadership and management skills. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend and holidays.
