The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) is offering unpaid internships to final year university students (studying PR, journalism, or communications) an unparalleled, exclusive opportunity to work with some of the top names in the state’s media industry, across television, radio, and print, all while enjoying Australia’s largest ticketed event – the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

As a PR intern at the Show, you will be based in the Media Centre working alongside a team of media and PR professionals from the RAS and Dentsu Creative Public Relations, to provide support in managing media and drafting media materials for the 2024 Show.

You will also spend a significant amount of time on your feet, navigating the hustle and bustle of the Show with media crew, and getting up close and personal to all the action.

This will include an induction day at the Showground prior to the start of Show,  a media preview day, and 10 days during the Show period.

We’re looking for proactive, agile thinkers, who can adapt and work under pressure in a fast-paced   environment. You will also need to have strong writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, be highly organised and have a sound news sense.

Assessment Details

Assessment details: Media Release (Approximately 300 words)

As part of your application, you are required to submit a media release of your own original work. You are welcome to use a piece that you have previously submitted for a university assessment.

If you do not have a pre-written media release, or would like to write something new, you might like to develop a media release which discusses the importance of the Show for rural and regional NSW.

This could include the role of the Show in bringing people together to celebrate and support rural and regional communities, or the challenges faced by rural communities in the past few years and how the experience of the Show can positively impact them.

Alternatively, if you have a different style of writing piece that you think might be suitable, please contact us at the below email address to check.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Samantha Cannings from the RAS at *********@rasnsw.com.au  OR 02 9704 1***
