About the ROLE 

Are you passionate about multiculturalism and committed to making a difference in the Gold Coast community? We are the peak body for multiculturalism on the Gold Coast, dedicated to diversity and inclusion. We are seeking a talented individual to join our finance team as a Public Relations Specialist.

As a Public Relations Specialist, you will support strategies and execution of MCCGC publicity campaigns and communication plans. You play a pivotal role in providing strategic support to executives on the Public Relations impact of their decisions, initiatives, and practices. Also, the role will ensure that targets are achieved and quality outcomes for our communities here on the Gold Coast are met within budget and continue to grow the existing MCCGC community-based program. 

YOUR Responsibilities:  

  • Supporting the strategy, and execution of organisational publicity campaigns and communication plans.
  • Providing strategic support to executives on the Public Relations impact of their decisions, initiatives, and practices.
  • Supporting the development, production, and dissemination of press releases and news announcements.
  • Conducting public opinion research, analyzing results, and leveraging insights to design targeted PR and promotional strategies.
  • Coordinating and hosting special events, workshops, entertainment activities, contests, and social gatherings to enhance public goodwill and secure positive media coverage.
  • Serving as one of our official ambassadors for organizations and facilitating executive media interactions to bolster public image.
  • Representing the organization at corporate, social, and networking events to elevate its profile.
  • Resourcing, and selecting visual and illustrative content to complement and enhance publicity efforts.
  • Reviewing, editing, and curating content from publicity writers, photographers, illustrators, and other contributors to ensure high-quality, impactful Public Relations material.
  • Maintain strong and lasting relationships through timely inbound contact initiatives.
  • Following up on business prospects: visiting companies, businesses, colleges, and potential employers and clients to strengthen connections that benefit MCCGC clients, participants, students and volunteers.
  • Representing the organization in various forums organized by the local government, associations, companies, multicultural events, local businesses, and chambers to enhance the organization’s visibility.
  • Facilitate workshops, information sessions and seminars for MCCGC or any organisation in diverse areas
  • Attending networking, social and other functions to promote the organization, its programs and its mission within the community.
  • Produce statistical reports, monthly reports, progress reports and annual reports.

About YOU:  

  • Minimum 3 years’ equivalent experience and/or Tertiary qualifications in Public Relations or relevant disciplines
  • Demonstrated management experience with a good understanding of not-for-profit organisation processes.
  • Strong Knowledge and understanding of the multicultural sector including relevant government policies and programs. 
  • Ability to deliver and evaluate programs against government funding contracts.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to deal constructively with complex and sometimes conflicting situations
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills including the ability to effectively coach, mentor and motivate multi-disciplinary teams and other key stakeholders
  • Highly developed advocacy and negotiation skills in order to represent MCCGC in a professional and positive manner to government agencies and other external bodies
  • Current Driver’s License and Blue Card.
