We are an Australian-based business specialising in the design and manufacture of innovative heat transfer solutions for industrial applications and the manufacture, importation, and distribution of automotive parts for the aftermarket segment. AHL has facilities across Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand, several of which include warehousing, manufacturing, and workshop facilities capable of responding to urgent customer needs. The Group has approximately 500 employees across these locations.
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this position will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the entire purchasing process including creating purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, and confirming delivery times.
- Maintaining accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data
- Reviewing and analysing all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options to make the most cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Ensuring that the products and supplies are high quality and manage any deficiencies with vendors.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed, coordinating with various departments for supply needs.
- Prepare reports and updates as needed regarding purchasing and the status of orders.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s policies and operational guidelines, and with all laws and regulations pertaining to purchasing and procurement.
- Manage damaged goods or incorrect deliveries and resolve any related issues with suppliers.
- Perform administrative and clerical tasks, such as data entry, preparing purchase orders, running reports, freight collections, and maintaining the purchasing filing system.
Experience and Capabilities:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Solid analytical & high proficiency in numeracy and literacy skills
- Relationship building skills, ability to collaborate with colleagues & stakeholders, supporting them while adding value and achieving outcomes for the purchasing department
- Intermediate computer skills across Excel and MRP systems, demonstrated high volume purchasing experience
- Excellent communication skills, and the ability to think logically when problem solving
- A strong team player.
- Organisation and time management skills are required to keep up with this busy role.
