Purchasing and Shipping Officer

CoolDrive Auto Parts is Australia’s premier importer and wholesaler of automotive aftermarket parts that was established in 1977 by W.J. Blanchard. We presently operate from 38 branches around New Zealand and Australia, and an office and warehouse in Shanghai, China; employing over 900 staff. 

We now have a full-time opportunity available for an experienced and results orientated Purchasing and Shipping Officerto join our team located at our Head Office in Box Hill. This role is available as a full-time permanent position. 

About the role:

Reporting to the Purchasing and Shipping Manager, your primary focus will be ensuring that stock levels of all products are maintained within prescribed parameters whilst maintaining and managing all stock ordering and Shipping requirements. 

Reporting directly to the Purchasing and Shipping Manager, some of your duties include (not limited to):

• Reviewing stock levels at pre-determined intervals and re-ordering products according to prescribed criteria for multiple factors;
• Maintain sufficient stock of products within prescribed parameters;
• Issue orders to suppliers for new products in accordance with terms;
• Liaison with shipping and logistics companies regarding freight arrangements for overseas product;
• Provide forecast details on specific products, as required by suppliers or customers;
• Review supplier confirmation of orders against our requirements and negotiate as appropriate where conflict arises;
• Follow-up on order status and advise other departments where delivery timing has changed;
• Authorise back orders where suppliers cannot fully meet order requirements and back-order deliveries.

• A working knowledge of the importation of goods, handling, shipping, customs and local transportation;
• A motivated self-starter, pro-active with attention to detail;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills;
• Able to work in a fast paced environment;
• Excellent negotiating skills;
• Proficient in MS Office software, particularly Excel;
• Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
