About the role:
You will be a shrewd negotiator hungry to drive cost savings without compromising quality, price, and availability. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will possess a unique ability to engage and communicate with the shop floor, proactively understanding their needs and ensuring the product purchased meets their requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Plans, organises, directs, and controls activities related to the purchasing function.
- Proactively engages and communicates with the shop floor, understanding their needs.
- Sources suppliers and negotiates prices for goods and services.
- Manage supplier relationships, continually evaluating and negotiating the best value for money.
- Perform supplier financial analysis and support supplier selection.
- Identify inefficiencies and cost gaps in already sourced commodities.
- Support identification of material cost optimisation and process improvement opportunities.
Key requirements:
- Minimum 5 year’s experience in a purchasing function within the Metal Fabrication industry only.
- Shrewd negotiator with the ability to achieve the best quality, price, and availability.
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
- Good interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build relationships with suppliers, key stakeholders, and shop floor personnel.
- Attention to detail to ensure specifications being requested are received.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and in a fast-paced environment.
