Working in a close knit team and reporting to the Purchasing Manager this position is predominately responsible for ensuring the integrity of the stores and purchasing lifecycle whilst also seeking ways to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
This role would suit an experienced Stores person wanting a step up in their career, developing with support into a Purchasing guru. There is manual lifting involved in this position, GCI Group adopt a smart lift philosophy to all manual lifting.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Picking of kits for shop floor – accuracy an attention to detail is essential
- Coordinate with Departmental leaders ensuring orders are placed in a timely manner – minimising production downtime
- Manage documentation required for suppliers whilst maintaining compliance
- Contribute to the overall improvement of the purchasing /stores processes and supply chain optimisation
- Professionally and respectfully resolve supplier issues or discrepancies
- Conduct regular Supplier reviews
- Ensure stock levels are at optimal level, minimising downtime and maximising efficiencies
- Investigate cost discrepancies – maintain variance reports
- Key stocktake counts/recounts – check and resolve anomalies
- Loading and unloading of trucks
- Track scheduled delivery
- Assist with end of month reporting
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain function both within the Purchasing team and throughout the broader business
- Seeking ways to best optimise the quality service and delivery performance of suppliers
- On occasion you will be required to pick up stock from suppliers so a Drivers Licence is mandatory for this position
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and personal attributes:
- Ability to forge and maintain professional relationships with suppliers in order to negotiate win/win outcomes
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and manage conflicting deadlines whilst remaining professional
- Previous experience in a similar role ideally within the manufacturing industry. Ability to understand and interpret general manufacturing terminologies and methodologies
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
- Self-motivated and driven – ability to work autonomously but also collaboratively - support other members of the procurement team
- Resourceful with the ability to think outside of the box
- Solid understanding of the Microsoft suite and CRM Systems
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills that embrace flexibility and lateral thinking; facilitate solutions and make decisions based on a sound understanding of the relevant issues, factual information and logical assumptions
- Accountability – someone who holds themselves and other members of the team accountable for the culture and direction of the team
