About the Role:
As a Python Software Engineer for our Integrated Portfolio Planning (IPP) team, you will work closely with the Analytical teams to develop improved and more sophisticated models and tools to optimise the way we work. You will provide thought leadership and guidance, while creating systems with advanced capabilities, as well as standardising the python analytical libraries. IPP create wholesale models that are built for the management of physical assets and the AGL wholesale portfolio.
What you’ll be doing:
- Help develop platforms to automate procedural workflows for Physical asset optimisation
- Support algorithm development through incremental improvements
- Ensure that development follows good practices and that the code is easy to debug and maintain
- Ensure that systems are developed to optimise AGL’s dispatch while keeping the plants operating safely
- Keep up to date with electricity and gas market rules to ensure compliance
About You:
You will be an experienced software developer with advanced Python capabilities and a good understanding of electricity and gas markets. Most importantly, your advanced problem solving skills and your ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, will set you up for success.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Tertiary qualification in Data Science, Computer Science or similar
- Advanced experience with Python and SQL
- Experience working with data processing and visualisation tools (e.g. Pandas, NumPy, Dash & Power BI)
- A good grasp of the NEM and gas and it’s markets as well as the importance of compliance with the National Electricity Rules and NGR.
- Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Strong Software Engineering skills
