Job description

As one of Australia’s largest importers of retail goods, this success story specialises in product sourcing and development for numerous categories. With offices in Australia, New Zealand, UK, US & China, this exciting opportunity is available for a qualified & experienced Manager responsible for QA & Compliance for home appliances, supplied into major national retailers.

Reporting to the Electrical Products Category Manager, this Senior role encompasses QA & Compliance requirements for Australia & China including;

  • Managing Compliance Requirements & Projects for the Electrical Team 
  • Managing the Compliance Team overseas (China and Philippines)
  • Ensuring all new and existing products are compliant and meet the specific customer requirements 
  • Working closely with external labs and third parties locally & overseas for both the mandatory requirements & specific customer requirements 
  • Reviewing and setting up testing plans & parameters for new products
  • Investigating customer issues, quality failures and areas of improvement 
  • Reviewing factory test reports, assessing results 
  • Providing recommendations from weekly test activity summaries 
  • Reviewing final Inspection and test reports for certificate applications
  • Arranging travel to China including scheduling with factories etc 
  • In-house inspection (China) including testing and identifying facility improvements and test samples
  • Reviewing inspection reports and releasing product shipments 
  • Assessing & reviewing new products including function, design, CDF confirmation etc

Requirements for this role include;

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
  • Strong Electrical QA/QC and Compliance project experience
  • Detailed knowledge of Small Domestic Appliances, Household Appliances & Electronics for the Australian market (essential)
  • An in-depth understanding of IEC 60335 Standards, ISO9001 Standards & Corporate Responsibility requirements (essential)
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers (overseas travel will be required a few times per year)
  • A dynamic thinker, expert problem solver, with a product quality focus
  • Able to work with internal and external stakeholders and multitask across a number of projects within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organisational, written & verbal communication skills and attention to detail
