Loclur Engineering, a division of The Lincoln Electric Company (Australia) Pty Ltd, is a leader in welding technology services.

We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Welding Supervisor who will be responsible for reviewing, preparing and submitting the required documents associated for the fabrication of welded items to ensure they meet all customer and statutory requirements.  The QA/QC Supervisor will also carry out fabrication and pre-delivery inspections of all welded items ensuring all client and statutory requirements are met.

Your responsibilities would include, but, are not limited to:

  • Review Documents and Drawings are correct as per specification and job pack.
  • Ensure required QA/QC documents are in job pack (ITP, Weld Traceability, Drawing, Visual Inspection sheet, Hydrostatic Test sheet.
  • Supervise and monitor all welding activities.
  • Develop Weld Map as per client and specification requirements.
  • Develop ITP’s for process piping/ vessels and cladding processes (Hardfacing and corrosion resistant alloys).
  • Develop Weld Traceability sheets as per client and specification requirements.
  • Perform fit-up inspection against drawing prior to welding of components.
  • Carry out post-weld inspections of welding to verify weldment meets specification and statutory requirements.
  • Develop and send NDT requests to NDE contractors.
  • Review NDT reports to ensure they are correct and meet client and statutory requirements.
  • Verify all QA/QC is completed as per client specifications and statutory requirements prior to items being dispatched.
  • Quality control of outgoing fabricated items.
  • Develop PQR’s and WPS’s for the welding of process piping and pressure vessels of various grades of carbon or alloyed steel to meet the requirements of AS1554, AS3992, ASME IX.
  • Develop PQR’s and WPS’s for the welding for welding of corrosion resistant and hardfacing overlays to meet the requirements of AS3992, ASME IX.
  • Review and confirm all required testing equipment is calibrated and recorded in register.
  • Compiles and dispatches MDR to client.
  • Complies with all workshop Health and safety procedures.

Skills and experience required:

  • Trade Background or Tertiary Engineering qualifications.
  • Must have excellent knowledge in fabrication, welding, cutting processes, welding equipment and consumables.  
  • Weld Australia- Cert 10, and or IWS, or IWI-S qualification/s.
  • Extensive knowledge of Australian and International Welding Codes.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrating exceptional service to external customers giving high priority to understanding and satisfying the customer.
  • Good presentation skills and ability to negotiate.
  • Ability to multitask and attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills is a must in this role
  • Experience or knowledge of welded products and experience with computerised systems such as SAP would be highly regarded
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office applications (word, excel, PowerPoint)
  • High level Excel Skills required
