Job description

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) was officially formed in 1960 but has grown steadily from being a sole aeromedical service to now providing a professional and dedicated team who deliver a holistic health care service across most of the local government municipalities in Tasmania.

We work in partnership with general practitioners, allied health professionals and local service providers to deliver physical health and mental health programs, as well as an award-winning outreach dental program.  Our vision is to improve the health outcomes for all Tasmanians with a specific focus on remote and rural areas.

Most Trusted Brand 2024

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has been honoured as Australia’s ‘Most Trusted Charity’ in the Australian Reader's Digest Trusted Brands survey of 2024. This accolade underscores the vital role the RFDS plays in the nation’s healthcare system, particularly in our rural and remote areas, and the deep trust Australians place in our services.

WHY TASMANIA?

Tasmania is widely known for having the cleanest air in the world – combine that with some of the best scenery, unique wildlife, and its rich history makes it one of the best Island States to live a clean, healthy and stressless life, away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities.

Tasmania is known for its cool climate wines, quality food and cultural creativity, with a good range of local boutique shops, trendy cafes, restaurants, and weekly markets along with a line-up of vibrant festivals, events museums, and art galleries. Tasmania also has a strong live music and theatre scene and is home to a world class symphony orchestra. It's also home to world class golf courses and bicycles track’s which meander through temperate rain forests.

The lifestyle is influenced by the beautiful nature of the island. Tasmania has more than 1000 mountain peaks to climb, stunning beaches to visit and ancient rainforests to discover. Cradle Mountain, Bruny Island and Wine Glass Bay are a must to visit and enjoy.

Active by nature? In Tasmania, there is an enormous range of extracurricular activities on offer, whether it is joining a sports club, participating in a cultural festival, visiting a museum or art gallery, shopping, or exploring the beautiful natural environment and scenery, you will always find something of interest. And of course, the four cities of Launceston, Hobart, Burnie and Devonport for easy shopping or to grab a coffee with friends.
