About the Division / Team

Our Hunter Valley network primarily services the Hunter Valley coal chain - the world's largest thermal coal export operation - by providing an efficient and reliable rail transportation system between mines and the Port of Newcastle. We manage the movement of around 250 trains per day on our network. Around half of these being coal trains and the other half comprised of passenger services, as well as grain, general intermodal, and other bulk freight trains.

About the Opportunity

Based in Muswellbrook, NSW, working a 9 day fortnight, ARTC is currently seeking applications from Signal Electricians that are looking to become part of our Hunter Valley Asset Maintenance team. This role will see you install, modify, maintain and repair signalling and communication equipment, on the Hunter Valley rail network. We are looking for dynamic individuals that perform well in a team environment that is focused on delivering safety and reliability outcomes for our assets. There are also opportunities for further development and career progression, depending on your aptitude, performance and thirst for growth.

About You

There are a variety of different locations throughout this region to call home, all of which are a relatively short commute to the centralised Provisioning Centre in Muswellbrook. To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Full Australian Working Rights
  • Strong safety focus with the ability to challenge the status quo
  • Certificate IV in Railway Signalling
  • ARTC Statement of Competency (Signals) or demonstrated ability to attain as per Signals Competency Assessment (EST-20-03)
  • Ability to work independently and strongly contribute to a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in fault finding, maintenance and repairs
  • Sound written, oral communication and computer skills
  • Willingness to travel within the Hunter Valley, work on-call and undertake overtime as required by ARTC
  • Driver's licence Class C
