Hutchins Bros Pty Ltd a family owned, Riverina based Structural Steel Fabrication business has an opportunity for a motivated individual to join its expanding team in the role of Apprentice Welder. Specialising in structural steel supply for commercial and industrial applications across NSW and VIC Hutchins Bros has been operating in the steel industry for over 30 years and has developed a reputation for reliability and excellence.
The role will involve the following:
Reading and interpreting shop drawings
Cutting and preparing of steel components
Assembly of structural steel components
Occasional offsite boiler-making
Assisting in the co-ordination of material inventory
Assisting in the co-ordination of dispatch of finished products
Assisting with Loading and Unloading trucks
Maintenance of Equipment
General House-Keeping
Quality Control and record keeping
Implementing and Learning Hutchins Bros Quality Policy
Implementing and Learning Hutchins Bros OH&S Policy
Implementing and Learning Hutchins Bros Environment Policy
Necessary skills / Experience
Excellent skills in MIG welding with qualifications
Minimum three years experience in metal manufacturing industry
Ability to read, interpret and work to engineering workshop drawings.
High level marking out skills.
Ability to fabricate and assemble structural steel products
Excellent attention to detail
Good communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain sound relationships
Must be keen and self motivated.
Ability to commit to ongoing work
Ability to work in a busy environment as part of a team and on own
Must have 2 contactable work related references
A sound understanding of safety rules and regulations in the steel industry
Willing to work overtime.
Rigging or spray painting experience would be a bonus
Honest and reliable
Working hours are generally 6am to 5pm Monday to Friday with Saturday work required during peak production times.
The remuneration for this position will be commensurate to the applicant’s skills and experience. The successful candidate can also expect ongoing training along with support that only a family operated business can provide.
