The Opportunity

We are looking to appoint an QA Engineer (Automation) - 9 month contract to support our Product team! The Automation QA Engineer  will drive the improvement in the overall quality of our software, to increase the speed at which we can make changes to our products. Embedded in teams and working in an agile environment you will provide technical leadership and provide technical expertise and support while delivering quality software. You have a great understanding of all the skills and competencies required to bring a successful software product to life and understand that you are a critical part of a creative and learning environment for the organisation. Your communication, collaboration and ability to convey complex concepts will enable you to discuss quality with product owners, software engineers and other stakeholders and identify you as the go-to person for all things related to quality.

This is a hybrid role, 4 days a week in an office based in Sydney.

The Role You’ll Play:

  • Working closely with delivery teams and participating in building software solutions with a quality mindset.
  • Pair testing with engineers and improving the automated test and overall release process.
  • Collaboratively work with other stakeholders such as Customer Care, Product, Project Management, Sales and Marketing to ensure the right people are engaged in acceptance and have structured and fulsome scope to work within;
  • Identifying the areas for improvements and working closely with the team to implement them.
  • Be curious, have fun testing things, playing with new technologies.
  • Learn how to be considered, to think through complexity, solve problems and apply conceptual thinking.
  • Be mentored and given clear personal and collaborative goals to achieve business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Tech Team to solve challenging pain points.
  • With experience, be given exposure to and work with the Scrum / Project teams.
  • Be expected to share your opinions, your input will be valuable.

What are we looking for?

  • At least 7 years of experience in a position where you participate in building software solutions with a quality mindset.
  • Excellent understanding of Agile development methodology and development practices.
  • Understanding of technical fundamentals including:
    • Engineering practices.
    • Coding best practices.
    • Testing approaches and outcomes.
    • Version control strategies using Git and bitbucket.
    • CI/CD principles using bitbucket and Github Actions.
  • Sound knowledge and hands-on experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Locust and Postman.
  • Track record in delivering automation solutions for Web, Content management platform and Restful API’s.
  • Experience in testing responsive websites across multiple devices and platforms using browserstack.
  • Demonstrate development experience in multiple languages such as TypeScript, JS and Python.
  • Experience in helping teams to deliver with confidence, using tools available to them.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, attention to detail and follow-through skills.
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new methodologies and technologies.
