Job description

This role is at our powder processing and manufacturing facility in Grove, Southern Tasmania. Bulk Nutrients is an Employer of Choice. 

Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Production Manager, you will support the redevelopment of our current Food Safety system to move to the DairyReg Tech model as we pilot the roll out of this system in Tasmania. 

Compliance with the requirements of dairy licensing will be a key part of this role. We are a mature company with well-developed processes and procedures and a fully functioning HACCP plan.  

You will manage the Quality Assurance Officer, and support their work in the day to day Food Safety management while you develop the company’s training, policies and implementation of identified priorities through the Australian Dairy Food Safety Culture Maturity Model. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the DairyReg Tech and Tas Dairy Industry Authority teams to be a key driver of Food Safety Culture at the site 
  • Conducting and supporting surveys and staff discussions related to Food Safety 
  • Planning and rolling out of staff training related to Food Safety Culture
  • Supporting the QA Officer to manage data collection and submission and monitoring of the dashboard
  • Preparing for audits
  • Proactively manage the QA Officer to support their work 
  • Backfill into QA Officer role for leave coverage
  • Support the digitisation of our QA system 

The successful applicant will enjoy working directly with staff and be the leader of our Food Safety Culture. They will be detail oriented and willing to learn. This role includes both spending time on the production floor and administrative work, and requires high level organisation, attention to detail and a commitment to Food Safety.

You must have a confident & positive attitude, be able to work with staff from a variety of cultural backgrounds, have a passion for delivering outcomes, and have a genuine interest in Food Safety. In addition, you will be a strong communicator, assertive and clear thinking and can prioritise and work within deadlines.

You will enjoy working 1:1 with staff and also with small teams to create a deep understanding of Food Safety Culture woven into day to day processes. You will be confident to follow up to ensure changes are imbedded, and be willing to be direct and clear in your instruction. 

This is a Permanent Fulltime position with a probation period (3 months).  

Requirements
  • High level understanding of Food Safety and HACCP principles, highly regarded if previous experience relates to dairy, but that is not essential
  • Experience in staff training and developing positive working relationships to achieve outcomes
  • Experience in Quality Assurance
  • Ability to travel to Victoria (at business cost) up to 4 times per year to attend community of practice meetings, use the learnings from these meetings to further improve our systems
  • Experience and confidence using the Microsoft suite, especially Excel 
  • Strong digital literacy and willingness to support the implementation of new digital systems 
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills 
Desirable Qualifications
  • Formal HACCP/GMP training
  • Experience in dairy food manufacture or other dry powder blending
  • Experience in Quality Assurance, specifically within the food industry, especially dairy
  • Qualifications/experience in education/HR applied in food manufacturing businesses 
  • Tertiary qualifications in a science or quality related discipline

Salary commensurate with experience (range starting at 80k per year + Superannuation), with an additional 6 monthly company profit share.
