The overall purpose of the role is to ensure that there is a consistent production of high-quality products made by our company to build consumer trust, which builds brand loyalty, and this can help to keep us ahead of the competition. It is a standalone QA position with no direct reports and reporting to the operations manager.
A person in this role would be required to work in the production areas to observe the quality of the products, the way the necessary tasks are completed and to identify any equipment issues/failures which may need to be resolved in a timely manner for a smooth, efficient, and effective production line.
This role is also Audit focused and covers compliance with legal, customer, internal/external standards, as well as continuous improvement of quality, record keeping and reporting.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Hands-on quality control checks on a regular basis along the manufacturing line.
- Engage in a systematic approach to identify quality/food safety concerns and provide dynamic solutions. This involves utilising technical knowledge around manufacturing, quality control processes and standards such as HACCP and BRC.
- Collaborate with operations and technical services to investigate non-conformances, identify corrective actions, and implement preventative methods of working, for the employee, equipment, and product.
- Assist in the development of training programs to support our staff with the equipment as well as for Food Safety and HACCP.
- Lead the investigations on customer/consumer complaints and conduct traceability exercises, reporting, and communicating with customers on these issues.
- Managing the HACCP and other audits as required.
- Periodic monitoring of environmental, allergen and pest control.
- Create and Review of nutritional information on packaging.
- Implement and Review environmental swabbing schedule.
- Internal and External Lab Testing of products, raw materials, and water.
- Create and review SOPs.
- Organising external service providers for ad hoc tasks – Electricians, cleaners, Pest Control, etc.
- Create and Review production processes, deviations, and recommended actions.
- Participate in cross functional teams to drive continuous improvement projects.

Proven track record of working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple work demands to meet deadlines.
Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products (particularly MS Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint).
Ability to exercise initiative, discretion, judgment and maintain confidentiality.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse group of staff.
Relevant Qualifications & Experience
Must be an Australian citizen or permanent residency
Demonstrated experience working in a Quality Assurance role.
Demonstrated experience managing documentation and processes around HACCP
Experience undertaking internal audits and preparation of relevant documentation.
Food science background is preferred
Demonstrated knowledge and application of QA systems, tools, concepts, methodologies, auditing, and Australian Standards.
