About the opportunity: 

We are looking for an experienced Quality Improvement Technician (Product) to join our Business Systems team in Somerton Head Office, VIC.  This role reports to the Business Systems & Quality Manager and will ensure Labelmakers continues to achieve the highest quality standards for our customers by managing the customer and product complaints process, analysing the issue, finding the root cause, resolving the issue, collate and analyse data and work with the sales, technical, R&D and operations team on prevention.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversea and/or lead site investigations into product complaints. Champion implementation of corrective actions and strategies for prevention and recurrence
  • Speedy and effective communicate to customers on receipt of a non-conformance or complaint with immediate actions and considerations – provide timely updates to the customers on progress of resolution and prevention
  • To build relationships, manage, support and influence stakeholders in a positive way, to ensure they complete their requirements under the QA Management Systems
  • To support the Technical and R&D teams with product information and specifications 
  • Partner with Operations, Product Development and Process Development to identify and implement product initiatives to improve quality
  • Formulate, implement, communicate, and maintain testing procedures and protocols for new / changed materials / processes - to ensure that product specifications are met.
  • Act as the liaison for all product related customer/consumer/regulatory quality issues
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, company and regulatory standards relating to quality 
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with key suppliers and service providers in part of building quality control strategies. 

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience in a quality or technical role in an Adhesive, print, paper or label organisation is preferred
  • Ideally a degree in chemistry, mechanical engineering or packing/process engineering will be highly regarded. 
  • Demonstrated experience in attaining ISO: 9000 Accreditation would be highly regarded
  • Able to influence, train and coordinate teams to achieve quality objectives and improve standards 
  • Strong communication skills written and verbal 
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies using sound planning and project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities – uses data to get to the root cause of an issue 
  • Self-starter who uses own initiatives
