Job description

Primary Purpose

Utilizing technical expertise and data analysis, the objective is to drive the implementation of lean methodology for the purpose of delivering high-quality products in accordance with customer expectations. Additionally, providing problem-solving skills and technical proficiency to support and lead Production Teams in optimizing their quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow the direction and requirements of the Manager of Production Quality and develop actions to meet Quality key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Lead special investigations to find root cause for customer complaints, non-direct runners, product audit findings and support the implementation of long-term actions to eradicate all systematic defects
• Set priorities with the Quality team and Cross Functional Team Leaders.
• Evaluate and recommend manufacturing processes, equipment, gauging, and tooling towards zero defects.
• Analyze defect data and launch projects based off of our highest losses using the VPS methodology.
• Provide documentation and data to support all analysis, investigation, and resolution.
• Define and maintain a quality control plan for the Wacol plant.
• Support on maintaining Quality Control documentation
• Support PFMEA and quality risk assessment efforts for manufacturing process 
• Support projects introduction as required
• Support poka-yoke management to prevent quality defects, visualization.
• Prioritize workload based on safety, severity, cost, and management direction
• Coach/Train on Quality VPS tools. 
• Drive continuous improvement in quality methods and processes.
• Fully support the Quality Assurance Process by building quality into all aspects of the job and by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements (including but not limited to being current on all training requirements for the job position and documenting that training).

Risk Management and Compliance

• Manage risk and compliance in the area, including ongoing identification of material risks.
• Monitor and ensure adequate risk management and compliance processes are in place.
• Contribute to strategic risk management and compliance activities, including ongoing risk identification and mitigation.
• Ensure that senior management and your team have a good understanding of the material risks.
• Implement and monitor controls to manage risk.
• Maintain and oversee all systems of internal control in risk management and compliance systems.
• Ensure key legislative requirements are met and changes to legislation are communicated.
• Promote a company-wide risk-aware culture.


Qualifications & Experience

• Trade qualifications in a relevant field 
• Sound product knowledge
• Technical drawing reading knowledge  
• Sound computer skills (MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint )
• Basic statistics analysis skills (Pareto Chart, line charts)
• Experience with application of quality tools (PDCA, Control Plan, fish bone, 5 why etc.)
• Good communication skills and facilitation/coaching skills
• Report writing skills
• Desirable experience with Lean Activities (VPS)
• Demonstrated health, safety, and environmental focus
• Good communication skills
