Greyhound Racing in Queensland has entered an exciting new phase in 2024 with the amalgamation of the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club and Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club to form the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club (QGRC). In late 2024 the QGRC will commence transitioning its operations to The Q Greyhound Racing facility located in Yamanto south-west of Ipswich.
The Race Day Administration Officer role is responsible for the day to day administration requirements including providing office support during programmed race meetings of the Club at the Ipswich venue.
Availability during race meeting is a requirement of this position.
The normal race program at the Ipswich venue is:
Tuesday Twilight approx 1pm to 7:30pm
Thursday Day approx 10am to 4:30pm
Friday Twilight approx 1pm to 7:30pm
Saturday Night approx 2:30pm to 9:30pm
Task include: liaison with clients and stakeholders; keeping good records of the organisation and its membership; database management and administrative support for events.
In addition the role includes general administration processes associated with the day to day running of the Club.
Racing Administration
- Preparation of racing information used by the on-course tote.
- Preparation of race day programs and form guides.
- Ensure all forms and information required by racing staff are ready and available prior to the race meeting.
- Record and maintain all race results as part of QGRC premiership points.
- Update racing databases and prepare reports as necessary.
Administrative Functions
- Undertake general administrative functions as required.
- Answer telephones and respond to enquiries as required.
- Respond to general enquiry emails.
- Assistance with events and errands as required.
Office Administration
- Implements office policies within established standards and procedures; measuring results against standards; making necessary adjustments.
Selection Criteria
- Experience with and knowledge of office systems.
- Excellent organisational and office management skills.
- Working knowledge of computer software packages, including MS Office and databases.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal direction and to exercise initiative and discretionary judgement.
- Experience working as a member of a small team.
