Job description

We are seeking a talented and motivated PhD candidate with a background in the fields of mechatronics engineering. 

You should have a strong interest and experience in artificial intelligence, robotics and machine learning.

You'll be based in our Centre for Robotics and will have the opportunity to work with a team of leading researchers. You will also undertake your own innovative research in and across the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics and machine learning.

These scholarships are valued at of $33,637 (AUD) per annum in 2024, are tax free and indexed annually.

Eligibility and application criteria

To apply for this scholarship, you must meet the entry requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at QUT, and not be in receipt of another living allowance scholarship to undertake the research degree.

In addition, this scholarship has specific eligibility conditions. Applicants must:

  • be considered domestic.
  • have identified or plan to identify a research project in a domain in a research team within the School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics from which QCR is affiliated.
  • nominate a proposed supervisor and must make contact with the supervisor prior to submitting an expression of interest.
  • be able to demonstrate an outstanding track record, for example a first class bachelor degree in particular in mechatronics engineering or a first class honours and/or high-quality research outputs and/or relevant industry experience.
  • be able to commence, on shore, by July 2024.
