As a Race & EventsTiming and Administration assistant you will play a central role in the execution and delivery of our outstanding events. Provide the timing or calculations to support the production of accurate results that lead to the success of a diverse range of events, including night spectacles, Australian Interschools competitions, and various National and International level alpine and freestyle events. Based in Perisher, Falls Creek, or Hotham you may be asked to travel to another of our resorts to assist with large-scale events.

In a typical day in this role, you might:

  • Manage event registrations and prepare software and hardware prior to events.
  • Operate timing systems to accurately record race results during events and provide reliable calculations and results.
  • Use your advanced skiing and Administration skills to enhance participation and guest experience of our events.
  • Assist with Race & Events daily outdoor operations and other departments to promote a positive guest experience.

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Advanced Skiing ability to be able to ski in all conditions - Please see our Snowsports ability description below.
  • Excellent communication and Administration skills with a high attention to detail and a customer service experience.
  • Experience in events administration and/or timing in any sport is preferable.
  • Experience in Alpine or Freestyle event environments, such as volunteering, events official, Timing and calculations, course setting or judging. (Desirable)
  • A background in Snowsports Coaching, athlete or competition experience. (Desirable)
  • Adequate physical fitness to frequently lift, carry and ski with 20+ kg of equipment and be able to work outside in inclement weather for 8+ hours per day. (Desirable)

Important: This is an early application process for seasonal roles that will start from June 2024. Offers for these positions will begin to be sent out from late January.

Employment start dates will vary depending on the role and snow conditions, but most roles start in June and finish in late September.

Snowsports Ability Description

Beginner -  A skier/snowboarder learning for the first time, starting to link turns or beginning to navigate easy intermediate terrain (not quite parallel turns for skiers). 

Intermediate -  A skier/snowboarder who is confident and able to navigate intermediate terrain consistently linking turns (parallel turns for skiers). 

Advanced Intermediate - A skier/snowboarder who athletically rides steep intermediate and advance terrain, with dynamic carved turns in a variety of turns shapes.

Advanced - An experienced skier/snowboarder who conquers any challenge on the mountain, with the ability to ride all types of advance terrain with ease,  including black runs, off-piste, icey and bumpy conditions.

Additional Information

Our Snowsports team are employed based on either unlimited or limited availability. You will be able to let us know in your application which option best suits you.

Unlimited availability applicants must be able to commit to working up to 6 days per week for the duration of the winter season.

Limited availability applicants must be able to commit to working for the school holidays and specified events on arrangement with the Snowsports school. 

Staff accommodation may be available for successful applicants. You will be asked to indicate in your application whether you require accommodation. If you are offered a position, we will be in touch to confirm and provide further information.

Race & Events team members employed in Falls Creek and Mount Hotham will be expected to hold or complete an APSI Alpine Level 1 Instructor qualification (or international equivalent) to be able to assist the Snowsports school during high business demand. The Snowsports school will cover the cost of your course and exam fees, if required of your role. The associated costs may include purchase of the APSI Alpine Manual and Membership package. This is not a requirement of the role for team members employed in Perisher.
