Job description

Unique opportunity to join a market disruptor that has a diverse client base, exciting equity upside and significant growth potential.

  • Key hands-on role supporting a world class operational site.
  • Secure, permanent full-time position based in Perth.
  • Growth and development potential

Did you know that Australia creates more hazardous waste per capita than any country in the world?

That is a big problem for all of us.

The Company

Tellus Holdings Ltd (‘Tellus’) is an innovative environmental services business focused on safely cleaning up Australia of its hazardous waste. We do this at our world-class geological repository that permanently manages the disposal of hazardous materials. With a culture that values being the safest place for its people and hazardous materials, trust and passion, Tellus currently operates Australia’s first commercial geological repository in regional WA and has several other geological repository and circular economy projects in the pipeline.

Tellus Holdings Ltd (“Tellus”) established the state-of-the-art Sandy Ridge Facility in Western Australia to address the increasing challenges of hazardous waste and by-products arising from diverse industries. This spans “start-up” industries like new energy and battery minerals processing, “scale-up” industries such as expanding refining and manufacturing, and “clean-up” industries including oil and gas decommissioning.

When you join Tellus, you become part of a team that cares about its people and the health of our planet.

With a culture that values being the safest place for its people, trust and passion, whilst working alongside talented scientists, engineers and experienced industry practitioners, you can be part of making an impact in permanent waste management for us now and for our future generations.

The Opportunity

Reporting to our Manager, Technical Services, the role will be based at our Perth corporate office. We are looking for a motivated, passionate, and authentic individual who believes in our mission to make Australia a cleaner and safer place to live.

The position offered presents a unique opportunity to apply your radiological experience in a practical environment. You will be remotely involved from the initial customer enquiry stage where you will be assessing the disposal enquiry against Tellus’ waste acceptance criteria. You will subsequently advise on compliance and safety aspects of transportation, verification and disposal of radioactive material to ensure all aspects of the operation are compliant with the relevant legislation. You will manage all documentation in a logical and auditable manner.

Working closely with both our on-site and off-site teams across a number of disciplines, you will spend your day providing advice on customer enquiries, maintaining compliance with existing approvals and regulations, and continually improving Tellus’ processes and procedures. You will support the site team conducting disposal activities, and the team managing radiological and environmental approvals.

Role Requirements

There are a few essential requirements that we are seeking.

You will need to hold a qualification in science, engineering, occupational hygiene or equivalent.

You will need to demonstrate strong radiological knowledge, both in theoretical terms and its practical application. A good working knowledge of the current radiological compliance framework in Australia or internationally would be looked upon extremely favorably.

Ideally, you will hold a current WA C Class Driver’s License (automatic only OK), as some driving is likely although not a regular part of the role. Occasional travel will be required including to the Sandy Ridge facility.

Excellent computer skills, ideally a good working knowledge of SharePoint as well as an excellent spreadsheet knowledge and report writing, will help you in this role, preparing numerous regulatory compliance reports.

You must also show your ability to be solutions-focused, with a proactive can-do attitude, be able to work across all levels of the business in a consultative, respectful, and team-based approach.

It will be advantageous if you are currently or have previously been licensed for the management or handling of radioactive material or equipment within Australia. Training will be provided within this role for the individual to obtain the relevant licenses from regulators.

Finally, if you have previous experience in a similar role, especially in management of radioactive waste storage, transport, and disposal, including regulatory approvals – fantastic!

If you don’t, that is ok as we will provide the required training you need to be successful in the team.

The final essential requirement is a hunger for continual learning and the need and skill to problem solve and work in a team that is innovative in how they assess, immobilise and store hazardous materials.

Next Steps

Apply for the role. You can do this by sending through your CV and by giving us a short introduction about who you are and what you are passionate about and are looking for and why we should consider you for the role.

Please send these details through to us via **@tellusholdings.com by Monday 15th April.

Looking forward to hearing from you and for you to potentially join the team here at Tellus.
