The Role
George Fisher Mine are currently seeking a motivated and qualified Raiseborer within our Drill and Blast Department. Reporting to the Superintendent – Drill and Blast, this residential role based in Mount Isa will require you to work 7/7 continuous shift roster which allows you to go home each day and enjoy the lifestyle that Mount Isa has to offer. This role requires you to safely and efficently operate a raise bore drill rig/s for the purpose of both production and non-production drilling. This role plays an integral part in the safe and efficient execution of the department/mines business KPI’s..Your key responsibilities include:
Ensuring both your own and others compliance to company policies, standards and procedures.
To performance of pre-start checks, hazard identification, PRAs (Personal Risk Assessment) and following safety practices and procedures when undertaking work.
Responsible for safety leadership across GFM and for the health and safety of the Drill & Blast team including:
Ensure work areas are in a high standard allowing work to be conducted safely,
Ensuring ventilation is adequate for the work area,
Ensuring compliance with standards and procedures, and
Role modelling of safety behaviours.
Responsible for following provided directions, communicating accurate and relevant information both safety, in shift and end of shift metrics and status’s, reading, understanding, and executing drill plans, audit drill logs as required, record all bucket counts as required, efficient management of drill consumables.
Responsible for undertaking role to deliver maximum drill utilisation, resulting in maximising raise bore drilled metres.
Ensuring shift handover is successfully conducted to cross shift personnel.
Developing a positive team culture in line with Glencore values including mentoring and coaching to build employee role competency.
Encouraging and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
Assisting the Drill and Blast team in regards to filling in for a position when required such as potential Supervisor, Trainer Assessor, Easer L and any other Operational Departments where required.
The successful applicant will have:
Tickets in relevant Raise Boring, Easer L, Volvo IT and demonstrated experience in a similar role
Australian Manual Drivers Licence
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in underground mining operation
Strong Focus on completing the job safely, efficiently and to a high standard
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with a focus on providing strong customer service
The ability to liaise / communicate with stakeholders internally and externally within Drill and Blast Dept.
Good time organisational & management skills and work well under pressure
Flexible approach, adaptable to change with high attention to detail and ability to work well in a team and independently.
